Andrew Haralambous

Dual BS/MS Student @ University of Michigan-Flint

Andrew Haralambous

Application security engineer and full-stack developer — building secure, scalable software and researching type systems along the way.

About

I'm a Computer Science and Software Engineering student at the University of Michigan-Flint, pursuing a dual BS/MS with a concentration in Cybersecurity Engineering. I split my time between application security, full-stack product work, and research on type systems that catch runtime errors before they happen.

Currently —building Skillfolio and researching dependent-type systems as a Google-sponsored research assistant. Previously, I completed an Application Security Engineer internship at Consumers Energy.

Timeline

Where I've been

Application Security Engineer Intern

Consumers Energy

Internship
May 2026 — Aug 2026Jackson, MI (Hybrid)
  • Developed Python automation using the Checkmarx One REST API to flag repositories with Critical/High vulnerabilities for enterprise security dashboards.
  • Documented a Python vulnerability-scanning script and reviewed changes to the Secure Code Coverage KPI tool with security engineers.
  • Proposed an AI-assisted data-validation pipeline to the Director of Enterprise Architecture, routing low-confidence server risk classifications for manual review.
  • Led a 4-person intern team building a Power BI dashboard that exposed thousands of servers lacking risk classifications; presented findings to 10+ leaders.

Founder & Project Lead

Skillfolio

Founder
Jan 2026 — PresentFlint, MI (Remote)
  • Architecting a full-stack SaaS platform featuring a Next.js/TypeScript/React/Tailwind frontend and a Java Spring Boot backend to deliver highly responsive personal branding and resume optimization tools.
  • Engineering secure data pipelines utilizing Supabase with Row-Level Security (RLS) and synchronization plugins.
  • Optimizing client-side performance during secure data mutations by implementing modern React patterns, including Server Actions and optimistic UI updates, reducing initial page load times by ~40%.

Google-Sponsored Research Assistant — Software Engineering & Type Systems

University of Michigan-Flint

Research
Sep 2025 — PresentFlint, MI (Remote)
  • Collaborating with a Google software engineer and 2 faculty researchers on scalable software analysis.
  • Developing a novel type system to prevent runtime errors like division by zero and array index out-of-bounds.
  • Prototyping a dependent-type system in Java/Kotlin to enforce stronger correctness guarantees at compile time.

AI MOVE Fellowship

Fellowship
Sep 2025 — PresentFlint, MI (Remote)
  • Reviewed 600+ criteria across 15 websites to validate website features and user interaction flows.
  • Applied systematic software quality assurance practices to ensure 100% accuracy of data fed to AI models.
  • Categorized and labeled content to enable consistent data interpretation across a remote research team.
  • Collaborated with project leaders to clarify ambiguous evaluation criteria and improve overall data accuracy.

SURE "AI in Education" Research Fellow

University of Michigan-Flint

Research
May 2025 — Aug 2025Flint, MI
  • Analyzed academic literature on student AI use in college/university courses for research survey development.
  • Categorized and labeled 100+ course syllabi to identify patterns in AI policy and disclosure developed by faculty.
  • Created a research survey to interview 100+ students about whether and how they would disclose their AI usage.
  • Collaborated with 8+ faculty and 30 research peers to review findings, refining the direction of my research.

Freelance Roblox Fullstack Developer

Self-employed

Freelance
Jun 2023 — PresentFlint, MI (Remote)

Magic Manual

Turns furniture assembly manuals into interactive 3D walkthroughs with animations, hands-free audio guidance, and live camera error detection. I architected and built the mobile guide and integrated Gemini vision and ElevenLabs voice agents with my team in 24 hours at Hack Dearborn 5: Conjure Reality.
